Vision

Towards a high level Islamic academia that results in advancing the linguistic, literary, and critical skills and capabilities and its establishment in students.

Mission

  1. To advance linguistic and critical skills and enrich the culture of students.
  2. To develop and advance the literary experiences of students.
  3. To qualify students with linguistic and critical skills to engage in advanced critical studies of literature and conduct research in the area. In addition, students can have the ability to distinguish between different literary texts.

Objectives

  1. Prepare qualifying students to become specialist researchers in studying the Arts of Arabic Literature and Literary Criticism, and its related aspects.
  2. Raising the level of literary talents and developing students skills in using literature styles in the fields of media realm and “Islamic Da’awa”.
  3. Dissemination of research in all fields relating to Arabic Language Literature and Literary Criticism.
  4. Enriching the library literature system with innovative research related to the field of Arabic Literature and Literary Criticism.
  5. Developing the functional and interactive skills of Arabic Literature and Literary Criticism into the graduates by adhering to the guidance of the modern approaches in teaching and learning the language with special references to the applied functional approaches.
  6. To cultivate the literary and critical skills within students written and spoken Arabic language forms.
  7. To advance literary research in the area of the Arabic Literature Sciences and the Literary Criticism and in all of its related sciences.
  8. The expansion of literary research of new ideas and theories relating to Arabic Literature and Literary Criticism.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Qualifying students to achieve the best affective level in applying the Arts of Arabic Literature and Literary Criticism in its spoken and written forms.
  2. Qualifying students to use the best applicable functional approach in using the various written and spoken forms of Arabic Literature and Literary Criticism.
  3. Create a generation of scholars and specialists in scientific researches in the art-related field of Arabic Literature and Literary Criticism.
  4. To authenticate the specialized scientific methods for the study of Literary Criticism and its developments.
  5. To propagate the Islamic values and principles through literary literature works.
  6. Graduated specialist executives specializing in the correction of Arabic language in the Arabic language media and the field of writing and language translation.
  7. Preparing the graduate to play the students role as an effective citizen in the persons’ society.
  8. Providing multiple graduates who can have the ability to preform various academic tasks.

Entry Requirements

ON CAMPUS

  1. Master’s degree recognized in Islamic Studies or its equivalent.

Note:
As with Master’s Programs, candidates without a formal background knowledge in Islamic Studies are essentially unacceptable in the Doctorate program for any branch of Islamic Studies. However, candidates from Master Degree in other fields but without formal qualification of Islamic Studies are admissable provided they passed the qualifying examination confirming sufficient level of knowledge of their background. This examination should cover both written and oral components (including interviews). Sufficient level is the level of knowledge that is usually available to holders of a Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies. If the gap between the two is large, the candidate should be denied. If the gap is not large, the HEP may choose to address this situation by imposing a strict prerequisite requirement.

Arabic Language Requirements
Candidates who wish to enter the program which medim of instruction is Arabic language must pass MEDIU’s Arabic Placement Test (MAPT) or equivalent .

 

ONLINE

  1. Master’s Degree in related fields from any recognized university; or
  2. Other qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Government of Malaysia; or

Arabic Language Requirements
Candidates who wish to enter a program which medium of instruction is Arabic Language, must pass MEDIU’s Arabic Placement Test (MAPT) or equivalent. Exemptions will be granted subject to the University Senate’s approval based on situations.

STRUCTURE A

The applicant is required to study a subject named Research Methodology, then the applicant can start the research under the supervision of an academic member of the Postgraduate Studies Department.
