Master of Education (Curriculum and Instruction)

Vision

Towards achieving a high-level academic and educational aims to provide a sound educational thought in accordance with the tenets and provisions of Islam and to prepare specialized researchers in the field of Education at master’s and doctorate levels respectively.

Mission

  1. To provide a comprehensive educational thoughts and prepare researchers that will be able to understand the effect of education and its critical analysis, initiate and innovate its virtues in line with the tolerant Islamic values, in order to achieve both sides of tradition and modernity in educating Muslims. 
  2. Enabling them to participate actively in educational consulting services and in the field of education and in various societal sectors designated to manage educational affairs, so as to contribute to the development of society and human civilization.

Enriching the students with the advanced leadership and managerial skills in effectively and critically analyzing curriculum and instruction Preparing students to be able to respond to global educational changes in view of the significance, centrality of curriculum and instruction in a modern educational system

Learning Outcomes

  1. LO1. Make significant intellectual contributions to the body of knowledge in field of curriculum and instruction besides providing innovative solutions to the day-to-day problems faced in this field.
    LO2. Apply the teachings of the Quran to contemporary Muslim curriculum and instruction problems in contemporary intuitions of leaning.
    LO3. Explain and apply a range of curriculums and instructions and compare them with the ones frequently used to solve current Muslim problems in this field.
    LO4. Critically evaluate current curriculum and instruction in order to assess their quality and applicability in order to improve them.
    LO5. Acquire and utilize knowledge and contribution of earlier Muslim educators in dealing with strategic curriculum and instruction issues to improve the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process.
    LO6. Identify, analyze and evaluate internal and external environmental influences on curriculum and instruction in order to develop strategic plans for the management of change and the development of new curriculums and instructions and link them to educational experiences directly with the Muslim communities learning needs and problems all over the globe.

Entry Requirements

  1. A Bachelors degree in Education from a recognized university OR a Bachelors degree in any other field (the candidate will be required to pass pre-requisite subjects).
  2. If deemed necessary, an applicant may be interviewed and/or required to sit for an entrance test in order to determine his eligibility for admission to this programme.
  3. The department of faculty may, with the approval of the University Academic Council (UAC), require the applicant to satisfy additional conditions for admission to this programme.

Language

Arabic Language:

Applicants interested to enroll in programmes where the medium of instruction is in Arabic must pass the MEDIU’s Arabic Language Placement Test (MAPT) before being admitted to the programme.

English Language:

Since the medium of instruction of this program is in English, all applicants must meet the English language requirement before being admitted to the programme. Examples include:

  1. Having English as their mother tongue.
  2. Substantially worked or studied in an English-speaking country (such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States).
  3. English language proficiency exam with a minimum overall band score of 550 in TOEFL or 5.5 in IELTS.
  4. A minimum overall band score of 4.00 in MEDIU’s English Language Placement Test (MUET).
  5. Any other qualification which is of equivalent level as determined by the Senate of the University.

Structure A: Research

The applicant is required to study a subject named Research Methodology, then the applicant can start the research under the supervision of an academic member of the Postgraduate Studies Department.
