Vision

Creating a quality academic Islamic education that leads to a comprehensive research base about the sciences and knowledge of the Sunnah and guiding students to follow the good manners of the prophet, peace and mercy upon him.

Mission

  1. Preparing students to search for the Sunnah, its sources, its methodologies and the way it was narrated and taught.
  2. Developing students’ awareness and adherence by being acknowledged with the sciences, the manners and the values of Sunnah. This awareness is likely to result in following the footsteps of the prophet, peace and mercy upon him.
  3. Qualifying students with the practical and behavioral skills which are needed to communicate with the society, so that they can be able to convey the message of Islam and work by it.

Objective

  1. This programmes aims to provide learners with:

    1. In-depth mastery of knowledge in Fiqh al-Sunnah
    2. Competence in analyzing and synthesizing principles, thoughts, ideas and different opinions, from classical (turāth) as well as modern sources.
    3. The ability to apply principles, theories and methods of Fiqh al-Sunnah to relevant contemporary issues
    4. The ability to offer fresh ideas for meeting current needs and providing alternative solutions, based on appropriate and responsible research.
    5. Critical, analytical and problem-solving skills in order to deal with issues at hand.
    6. Effective interpersonal and communication skills; to carry out supervisory role in teamwork with awareness of their social and ethical responsibilities
    7. high competence in finding materials and information for research, career development and lifelong learning

Learning Outcomes

  1. At the end of programme, students should be able to:

    1. Demonstrate in-depth mastery of knowledge in Fiqh al-Sunnah, including competence to analyse thoughts and ideas from classical as well as modern sources;
    2. Critically analyze differences of opinions among the scholars and synthesize ideas from various sources;
    3. Apply principles, theories and methods of Fiqh al-Sunnah to relevant contemporary settings for meeting current needs;
    4. Offer fresh ideas based on appropriate and responsible research, and make use of relevant ideas in modern disciplines for providing alternative solutions.
    5. Execute and take responsibility for managerial tasks; and put into practice effective interpersonal and communication skills;
    6. Apply critical, analytical and problem-solving skills in dealing with issues at hand;
    7. Carry out supervisory role in teamwork and show awareness of social and ethical responsibilities;
    8. Demonstrate skilfulness in obtaining materials and information for research, career development and lifelong learning

Entry Requirements

  1. A relevant Bachelor’s degree (Honours) with good grades from MEDIU, or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by the university OR any other certificate that is recognized by the university and equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) or other relevant professional qualification and experience that are recognized by the University.
  2. A relevant General Bachelor’s degree (without Honours) with at least one year working experience, and, if deemed necessary, an applicant may be interviewed and/or required to sit for an entrance test in order to determine determine the applicants eligibility for admission to a specific programme.
  3. The department of faculty may, with the approval of the University Academic Council (UAC), require the applicant to satisfy additional conditions for admission to a specific programme.

Language

Applicants interested to enroll in programmes where the medium of instruction is in Arabic must pass the MEDIU’s Arabic Placement Test (MAPT) before being admitted to the program.

STRUCTURE A: RESEARCH

The applicant is required to study a subject named Research Methodology, then the applicant can start the research under the supervision of an academic member of the Postgraduate Studies Department.
