Vision
Towards achieving Shari’ah education that will provide the students with the right values of Islamic Ethics and Akhlaq that will furnish them with strong fundamental knowledge of Islamic legal system.
Mission
- Prepare the students to learn the fundamental of Islamic legal system and the foundation of Islamic Jurisprudence to realize the virtues of Islamic personality, uplifting the awareness of oneself, and commit to the law of Shari’ah.
- Develop the students’ awareness and commitment through learning the basic values of the Shari’ah legal system.
- Provide the students with behavioural and practical skills that are needed to get connected with the society thus enables them to disseminate the virtues of Islam and the Shari’ah.
- Train the students on how to use computer and information technology so that they will be equipped with current knowledge and ways to retrieve information.
- Guide the learners and get them to use the lessons in order to help and support them in their work area after graduation.
Objective
- Have a focused and scholarly understanding in Science of Tafseer and Sciences of Al- Qur’an.
- Are competent in research with a firm grounding in Islamic principles.
- Are capable of producing scholarly writings that are reviewed by their Teachers;
- Are capable of articulating complex and sophisticated ideas through oral presentation or discourse; and
- Are conscious of their professional and ethical responsibilities, and
- Are able to contribute toward Islamic solutions in the social, economic and cultural contexts, nationally and internationally.
Learning Outcomes
- Generate knowledge and understanding through independent research;
- Demonstrate academic expertise and provide leadership on relevant research subjects, and lifelong learning in areas of Science of Tafseer and Sciences of Al- Qur’an.
- Contribute to research and refereed publications;
- Promote the Islamic social and cultural progress in a knowledge-based society in both academic and professional contexts;
- Demonstrate behaviour that is consistent with codes of professional ethics, legal requirements and responsibilities.
- Carry out supervisory role in teamwork and show awareness of social and ethical responsibilities; and perform the principles and the ethics of the Quran in their daily life;
- Participating in research projects on relevant research subjects.
- Apply critical, analytical and problem-solving skills in dealing with issues at hand such as defending intellectual suspicions that might be raised against Quran.
Entry Requirements
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree (Honours) with good grades from MEDIU, or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by the university OR any other certificate that is recognized as equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) or other relevant professional qualification and experience that are recognized by the University.
- A relevant General Bachelor’s degree (without Honours) with at least one year working experience, and, if deemed necessary, an applicant may be interviewed and/or required to sit for an entrance test in order to determine determine the applicants eligibility for admission to a specific programme.
- The department of faculty may, with the approval of the University Academic Council (UAC), require the applicant to satisfy additional conditions for admission to a specific programme.
Language
Applicants interested to enroll in programmes where the medium of instruction is in Arabic must pass the MEDIU’s Arabic Placement Test (MAPT) before being admitted to the program.

STRUCTURE A: RESEARCH
The applicant is required to study a subject named Research Methodology, then the applicant can start the research under the supervision of an academic member of the Postgraduate Studies Department.
