Objective

Provide students with a comprehensive understanding of, and competencies in accounting, auditing, taxation and financial management concepts, methods and practices, and thereby equip them for a professional accounting and financial management career.
Enhance student’s capabilities in conceptual thinking in interpersonal and communicating skills and in the use of analytical methods required for effective diagnosis of accounting and financial management theories, concepts and techniques.
Improve students’ critical thinking ability and build the vital skills to conduct quality research within accounting areas of their interest that have practical or theoretical implications.
Preparing students to become researchers in various fields of Accounting.
Developing the social responsibility and interactive skills into students.

Learning Outcomes

Utilize scientific research methods to acquire, interpret and extend knowledge in the field of accounting in general and in the chosen project topic in particular.
Identify current accounting issues in the accounting profession in the context of global development.
Relate the issues in accounting practice with key theories that explain certain phenomenon.
Analyze current issues to form related enquiries requiring solutions through studies and research.
Critically review past studies on related issues and identify gaps and opportunities for further research.

Entry Requirements

i. Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in relevant fields from MEDIU or any recognized institutions of higher learning; or
ii. A recognized qualification equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) or relevant professional qualification and recognized experience by a university; or
iii. Bachelor’s Degree with at least one year of relevant work experience; or
iv. Other qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Government of Malaysia.

English requirements
Candidates who wish to enter a program which medium of instruction is English language must pass the English Language Qualification (TOEFL: 550 / IELT: 5.5) or MUET band 4, or equivalent qualifications. Exemption will be granted subject to the University Senate’s approval based on situations.

A: Research

The applicant is required to study a subject named Research Methodology, then the applicant can start the research under the supervision of an academic member of the Postgraduate Studies Department.
